Nixon Hire launches dedicated Renewable Power Division

The new division is headed up by Nick Hibbard, Renewables Division Manager and supported  by Simon Gibbs, who has recently joined the business as Head of Sales – Renewable Power.

Gibbs brings with him a wealth of power generation sales and technical experience and joins Nixon  Hire from Hybrid Power Hire, after holding senior sales roles at Speedy Services for over 16 years.

He said: “Having worked in the temporary power industry for several years, and more recently within the  battery storage unit environment, it was important to me personally that my next role was one that  focused on the provision of clean energy, specifically within temporary applications.

“It was clear from the outset that Nixon Hire not only had experience within this arena but that they  also have an appetite to continually invest in and improve the offering of renewable power products  and services to their customer base, with more efficient and cleaner power products and staff  investment.

‘My initial focus is to ensure that Nixon Hire build on the excellent reputation gained in the hire industry  for the provision of these products, as well as ensure that we continually develop our product portfolio  to provide the cleanest possible temporary power solutions for our clients.”

As well as Solar Pods, Solar Smart Frames and EV Chargers, the fleet will also include the new ProPower Solar Hybrid Generators from Prolectric, which are already proving to be hugely popular with customers.

Nixon Hire’s new Solar Smart Site offering will lead the way in helping direct the construction industry towards a more sustainable future – enabling customers to run clean, cost-efficient sites with significant fuel and cost savings.

The Solar Smart Site incorporates four of Nixon Hire’s renewable products – Solar Pods, Solar Smart Frames, Battery Storage Units (BSUs) and Erica smart distribution boards and can be easily scaled up and managed remotely.

The Solar Smart Frames enable customers to add combined solar power systems to any roof or spare space on site whilst the smart distribution boards give an insight into on site power consumption and allow for remote monitoring and control.

By providing dedicated product support, Nixon Hire will guarantee that customers benefit from maximum reductions in power wastage, costs and carbon emissions.

The first plug ‘n’ play Solar Smart Site was recently installed for a customer near Watford and has successfully powered an eight unit setup purely on solar and battery – a setup consisting of 7 x 32’ units and 1 x mains toilet unit.

Within one week, this Solar Smart Site had already paid for itself. In  three weeks the total amount of solar gain harvested was 319kW – enough to cover the site’s load  requirements throughout the day and fully recharge the battery bank inside the Solar Pod before 1pm  each day, with zero generator run time.

This has already saved 7 tonnes of carbon emissions (the  equivalent of planting 348 trees) and in addition has saved 2,520 litres of fuel – a cost saving of over £5,500.
