We’re working with a growing independent town planning consultancy in Cheltenham that is looking to appoint a Senior Town Planner / Principal Town Planner as part of its continued expansion.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to move beyond simply managing applications and take greater ownership of projects, client relationships and their own career development.

The Role
You’ll work closely with a varied client base across a broad range of planning matters, with particular exposure to development management and land promotion.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing and progressing planning applications
• Providing commercially focused planning advice to clients
• Working across development management and land promotion projects
• Preparing and presenting evidence for planning appeals
• Liaising with landowners, developers and other stakeholders
• Advising on current and emerging planning legislation and policy
• Building and developing long-term client relationships
• Supporting and mentoring more junior colleagues
• Contributing to business development and repeat work
• Playing an active role in the continued growth of the consultancy

About You
You’ll ideally have:

• A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline
• RTPI membership, ideally
• 3+ years’ relevant planning experience within the public or private sector
• Strong knowledge of planning legislation and policy
• Experience across a broad range of planning matters
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• The confidence to manage your own workload and competing priorities
• A commercial, client-focused approach
