An established strategic land promoter is looking to appoint a Planning Manager to join its growing Planning & Projects team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planner looking to take greater ownership of major strategic residential and mixed-use sites, working across the full planning lifecycle from early-stage strategy and Local Plan promotion through to planning applications, appeals and examinations.

You’ll regularly act as the Lead Planner on projects, helping formulate the planning strategy for sites and taking responsibility for its delivery, while working alongside experienced Planning Directors and senior project colleagues.

The role
You’ll be involved in:

• Promoting strategic sites through Local Plans and the development plan process
• Preparing and managing major planning applications
• Developing and implementing planning and engagement strategies
• Drafting representations, planning reports and appeal documentation
• Attending Local Plan examinations, hearings and inquiries
• Managing and reviewing work undertaken by external consultants
• Instructing Counsel and working with legal teams on Section 106 agreements
• Engaging with local authorities, landowners, agents and other key stakeholders
• Supporting the identification and securing of new sites
• Providing guidance and support to junior planners within the team

About you
You’ll ideally have:

• A planning degree or equivalent qualification, with eligibility for RTPI membership
• Strong experience gained within planning consultancy, a local authority, strategic land or a similar planning environment
• Experience of promoting sites through the Local Plan and/or planning application process
• A strong understanding of strategic residential development
• Experience preparing reports and representations in support of planning applications or site allocations
• Exposure to Section 106 negotiations
• The ability to formulate and deliver planning strategies with increasing autonomy
• Strong written, communication and stakeholder-management skills
