Are you a Town Planner looking to develop your career with a leading UK residential developer?
We are working with a highly successful housebuilder seeking a Development Planner to join its established Land & Planning team in the North East. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in identifying, promoting and delivering residential development opportunities while gaining exposure to a varied portfolio of immediate and strategic land projects.
Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, you’ll contribute to the delivery of high-quality new communities across the region and be involved in projects from site acquisition through to planning approval.
The Role
As Development Planner, you will be responsible for managing a range of planning and development activities, including site appraisals, planning applications and strategic land promotion.
Key responsibilities include:
- Undertaking site assessments, planning history reviews and policy analysis for immediate and strategic land opportunities.
- Preparing and managing planning applications, including Outline, Full, Reserved Matters and discharge of planning conditions submissions.
- Producing Planning Statements, Design & Access Statements and supporting planning documentation.
- Liaising with internal design teams, external consultants and local planning authorities throughout the planning process.
- Supporting stakeholder and public consultation events.
- Formulating planning strategies to promote strategic land through the Local Plan process.
- Monitoring emerging planning policy and development plan progress across the region.
- Supporting senior members of the planning team on key projects and initiatives.
About You
We are keen to speak with planners who have a strong understanding of the UK planning system and a passion for residential development.
Requirements:
- RTPI-accredited degree or master’s degree in Town Planning.
- Previous experience within planning consultancy, housebuilding, local authority planning or the wider development sector.
- Knowledge of development management and/or planning policy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively to deadlines.
- Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Full UK driving licence.
