Candidate Requirements
A relevant planning qualification to degree level/ eligibility for RTPI membership, preferred.
At least five years’ experience of working either as a planning professional within development company, planning consultancy or local planning authority, preferred.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, preferred.
Proven track record in planning residential schemes, with a sound understanding of national and local planning policy, urban design, good placemaking principles and creating communities.
Understanding of engineering, landscaping, ecological and heritage principles which will influence the delivery of projects.
Experience of the production documents and relevant administrative tasks required for the submission and management of outline, reserved matters and full planning applications.
Good knowledge of the Company’s operational area being Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire, preferred.
Ability to work as part of a team, drawing upon the knowledge of colleagues in a multi-disciplined environment.
An ability to manage your individual workload and be self-motivated in order to meet agreed project timescales.
The ability to recognise problems and devise solutions in an efficient, cost effective and speedy manner.
Full driving licence required as work will require attendance at potential development sites
Job responsibilities
Assist the Planning Manager with the planning review of new land acquisition opportunities.
Submission of planning applications and related Town and Country Planning Act consent applications via the Planning Portal with inputs from the wider team in accord with key target dates.
Assist the Planning Manager with delivering immediate and strategic land opportunities
Produce accurate written work with consideration of planning policy, commercial factors, technical constraints and sales opportunities.
Attend pre-application meetings and any other relevant meetings of engagement with local planning authorities.
Co-ordinate and manage external consultants as appropriate, including planning consultants, heritage advisors, ecologists, landscape architects, and designers alongside the management of invoices, purchase orders, appointment documents for the necessary consultants.
Contributing to negotiations of Section 106 planning obligations and planning conditions.
Preparing relevant Community Infrastructure Levy submission documentation.
Keeping up-to-date with planning policy and planning practice guidance particularly relating to large scale residential led development projects.
Attend meetings and site visits with the public and local community representatives as required.
