The role of Engineer is to support and assist the Regional Technical team and operating team to support the regional and Group Business plan, commercial objectives, budgets and future growth requirements, whilst mentoring junior members of the team.

 

Main Responsibilities Key responsibilities of the position:

·        Take a ‘whole company’ perspective to the performance of Building Homes. Changing Lives by positively influencing business objectives and enhancing the profitability and operating effectiveness of the business, whilst being Passionate, Collaborative and Respectful.

·        Provide technical/engineering support to the land/development team to assist during feasibility studies and lead in the preparation of site viability reports in line with current regulatory requirements for residential development.

·        Identify the need for external consultants, agree fees, the scope of service capability, timescales and deliverability. Formally appoint such consultants.

·        Manage relationships with consultants to ensure the flow of information is within the agreed timescales and in accordance with, and on schedule with the programme and ensure compliance at all stages of each planning submission in line with the National Housebuilding council standards.

·        Ensure all design information produced is issued to the relevant internal and external departments in accordance with, and on schedule with the programme

·        Be aware of and act upon commercial implications relating to planning & architectural design; civil & structural engineering design; geotechnical & ground remediation strategies; statutory services – new supplies & diversions

·        Awareness of Type approval with NHBC, LABC and SBD

·        Assist in the process of tendering for, setting-up and establishing on site management companies, whilst implementing the group procedures and ensuring all legal aspects in relation to various agreements; sec-tion 38, 104, 278 etc are adhered to and arrange bonds, guarantees, warranties and insurance as called for.

·        Interact with internal departments, consultants, suppliers and sub-contractors as necessary in order to achieve Building Regulations and warranty approval and satisfactory conditions discharge.

·        Assist in the preparation of key status reports and updates on all KPIs relating to the Technical function.

·        Co-ordinate the appointment of utilities, including designs, quotes and any required agreements.

·        Responsible for managing the Adoption process S38, S278, S104 etc

·        Provide engineering support to site teams and Internal departments.

·        Be present on site and lead on relevant technical meetings relating to the procurement and approval of site infrastructure.

·        At all times comply with responsibilities under the Company’s Health and Safety and Environmental and Corporate Responsibility Policies and all other company policies, procedures, and instructions

·        Any other duties as reasonably requested.

 

Ideally you will have:

A relevant qualification or strong experience in technical design, and/or civil engineering

Knowledge of engineering requirements of the house building industry and the legal framework associated with Technical standards and requirements.

Knowledge and application of:

·        Highway Design Standards

·        Sewers for adoption

·        Building Regs

·        British Standards

·        PDS design software

·        Micro drainage design software

·        AutoCAD

•       Good Technical and legal knowledge and Financial/Commercial awareness
