Strategic Land Manager | Housebuilder | West Midlands | £65K+P
Our client are one of the Midland’s leading privately-owned house builders with an outstanding reputation for delivering high quality family homes across the region for almost 90 years.
Reporting to the West Midlands Regional Land Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and securing land opportunities through Option Agreements, Joint Ventures and outright purchases with the objective of achieving and maintaining a quality land portfolio. The Company is seeking an ambitious individual with proven negotiation skills and a strong ability to build relationships with key stakeholders.
Overview of the role:
•Identification and acquisition of land opportunities in line with the company’s vision and targets.
• Manage and assist with the acquisition of strategic and immediate development opportunities from identification, due diligence, formulating offers, managing the legal, planning, and purchase through to pre-start.
• Work closely with relevant departments e.g. Technical, Commercial, Sales and external consultants to conduct land appraisals and submit offers in line with Company’s plan.
• Obtaining the necessary internal approvals in a timely and robust manner.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with local authorities, land agents and landowners.
• Maintain and monitor the regions land database including land agents, landowners, planning applications and land opportunities.
• Understanding of market areas, build costs, technical matters and plot profitability.
• Ensure landowners and agents are kept informed on a regular basis.
• Participating in corporate entertaining, networking events on behalf of the company.
Experience, Qualifications and Skills:
• Experience working for either a housebuilder or land promoter.
• Demonstrate an excellent knowledge of land acquisition and development appraisal process.
• A relevant degree level qualification, great communications skills and thriving in a team environment are essential.
• Strong understanding of the financial and legal aspects of development land.
• Excellent knowledge of the West Midlands area and good relationships with land agents, landowners, planning consultants, lawyers and local authorities.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Able to work on own initiative with the drive to take ownership of projects
• Full UK Driving Licence
