The Client:
Our client is a leading London-based, privately owned building services contractor specialising in Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health (MEP) design and installation for large-scale residential and commercial projects. Established in 2003, they have a skilled team of over 200 professionals delivering comprehensive services including mechanical and electrical installations, design, BIM-integrated prefabrication, facilities management, and aftercare. Their portfolio features prestigious residential developments for tier 1 contractors and developers, demonstrating expertise in high-spec MEP shell & core and fit-out works.
Project Overview:
Our Client has been appointed to deliver the MEP Shell & Core and Cat A fitout for a new 22 Storey Office Building located in Southwark. The successful candidate will be a key member of the MEP project team.
Electrical Manager Responsibilities :
- To manage and co-ordinate the Electrical division for the office block project from conception through to delivery
- Manage and oversee the on-site construction team, including Electrical and external Contractors
- Track production and schedule works
- To complete accurate bulk material take offs for all Electrical infrastructure materials including, Containment, SWA, Busbar, lighting, Panels etc
- Assist with the management of material onsite ensuring supply is ahead of production.
- Ensure Sub-contractors work to the programme, construction sequence and efficient deployment when pro-actively allocating work
- Assisting implementation of Electrical Safe Systems of Work procedure in line with the site AP
- Ensure the highest consideration is given when complying with current regulations and specific client requirements
- Reporting of all Health and Safety issues and manage the issue and upkeep of PPE to the team
- Proactively demonstrating Health and Safety Leadership and monitoring on site; ensuring the safety standards are understood, implemented and maintained by all team members and Contractors
- Carrying out detailed Quality Assurance inspections of installations in accordance with their QA procedure
- Manage and oversee the electrical pre-commissioning and commissioning
- Implement and monitor the project to ensure it is engineered to the highest standard
- Take ownership of Electrical issues and liaise with the Client and Design consultants to obtain closure and clarifications where necessary
- Ensure appropriate quality and workmanship
- Carryout Toolbox talks were required to Sub-contractors
- Provide weekly updates to the Contracts Manager and Projects Manager
- Review of ongoing works and highlight potential defects or risks
- Complete accurate project materials take off as allocated by the project procurement process
- Compile project and task specific RAMS and ensure they are updated in line with the project progress
- Ensure installations are in accordance with drawing specifications
Skills and experience required
- Previous experience working as an Electrical Site Manager, ideally with a National Contractor
- Has previous experience working on commercial buildings in a similar role
- Gold card Electrician/Managers card
- Hold a valid Site Manager (SMSTS) certificate
- Up to date First Aid qualification
- Hold a Testing qualification such as C&G 2391 (preferred but not essential)
- Essential experience of managing staff and 3rd parties
- Ability to understand building services including Design principles, Method statements, Inspection Test Plans, Risk Assessments, commissioning and handover requirements
- Ability to communicate with Sub-contractors, consultants and other team members
- Experience dealing with MEP Sub-contractors
- Essential Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety requirements and Electrical Safe Systems of Work
- Ability to influence and drive positive attitudes and behaviours with regards to site Health and Safety and influence people who are not part of your team
- IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word
Rate and Working Hours
- Rate: £33-£36 p/h Experience Depending
- Start: 1st of July 2025
- Working hours: 7:30am-5pm Monday-Thursday and 7:30am-4pm on Friday.
