Role: Fire Engineer

Location: Bristol/ London/ Manchester/ Birmingham office

WRG is supporting an independent property & construction consultancy that operates across the UK and overseas. The business is looking to hire an ambitious and competent Fire Engineer to join the team in either Bristol, London, Manchester or Birmingham to support a diverse range of regional and international projects during design and construction.

This is a new venture for our client, they currently outsource their fire engineering projects to external consultants but are now in the position to hire someone to lead and develop this service inhouse. Essentially you will be the Head of Fire Engineering and responsible for the growth and success of the department.

Our client has developed an excellent reputation in a short period of time, they are known for their quality of work, collaborative approach to projects across the built environment, and how they have incorporated new technologies into their projects.

The business oversees a diverse portfolio of projects both overseas and throughout the UK, these include; residential, healthcare, heritage, commercial, leisure, retail, HRB’s, industrial, sports stadia, and defence.

The role would suit a fire engineering professional who would like to join a dynamic and evolving construction practice that has ambitious growth plans for the future, the business is looking for a someone with a positive attitude who is keen to learn and progress within the team.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, develop and grow the new department for the business.
• Liaise with new and existing clients and build professional relationships.
• Develop fire design strategies and review retrospective designs.
• Carry out compartmentation surveys.
• Carry out FRAEW surveys.
• Produce technical reports for each project.
• Collaborate with colleagues across all offices and offer fire engineering support on projects when required.
• Attend client team meetings and offer input regarding progression etc.
• Manage project portfolio and keep track of financial performance and budgets.

Requirements:

• Degree in fire engineering or similar engineering discipline.
• Several years experience carrying out the fire engineering role.
• Excellent technical fire engineering knowledge.
• Membership to IFE or capable of working towards this.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience of working within a collaborative team environment.
• Knowledge of fire engineering software packages.
