QUALIFICATIONS

·        Ideally the candidate we are looking for is someone who has a qualification in architectural technology/building/architecture to BTEC level 3/ONC/OND.

·        The candidate also needs to be proficient in AutoCAD, and Revit is an advantage.

 

EXPERIENCE

·        Ideally the candidate will have a min 3 years post qualification experience within the House Building industry either working for a developer or Architectural practice.

·        They will need to have a good knowledge of traditional housing construction as well as having a good knowledge of modern methods of construction.

·        They will need to understand the basic principles of Structural, Thermal, Energy, Fire & acoustic designs & how they relate to dwellings.

·        They will be required to have a good understanding of the requirements of service providers:- Data, Tel, water, Electrical requirements, ventilation, PV & Battery & other mechanical service requirements.

·        They will need to have a thorough knowledge of the Building Regulations & warranty providers Standards.

·        They will need to have a basic understanding of Health & Safety principles and how they affect site procedures.

 

POSITION

The post of Technical Co-ordinator / technician will involve the production of construction information, using their own initiative and having the ability to work quickly, on their own yet within the team framework meeting specific deadlines. They will also provide general drawing support to the wider team in terms of standard details for the whole team and occasionally may be asked to generate AutoCAD drawing blocks for the team.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

The work will involve the following in no particular priority:-

·        Checking the Engineering layout and highlighting any surface spread of flame or ownership & access issues, checking for M4 accessibility requirements.

·        Preparing or amending existing house type working drawings to suit the needs of the project assigned in terms of Sect 106 commitments and planning conditions etc.

·        The production of construction detail drawings, including structural steel fabrication drawings where applicable.

·        Liaising with external design consultants:- Struct engineer, Fire engineer, PV, Heating, UFH, SAPs, B&B floors, Ventilation, Stairs, AG Drainage, Kitchens & checking their designs for compatibility/conflict with the WDs & other services and then either getting designs amended or implementing any changes required.

·        Organising feedback from other departments and incorporating them back into the working drawings.

·        Partake in the project briefing & progress meetings & any interdepartmental meetings.

·        Liaising with Housing Associations on their specifications and implementing their requirements.

·        Obtain all necessary approvals and certifications

·        To organise site Project Information meetings as required

• To produce/organise brochure plans & dims and H&S plans

• Approve any Buyer or Surveyor sourced product/contractor designs.
