A UK’s top 150 consultancy is looking to grow their H&S division with the addition of a CDM/Principal Designer. We are looking for a competent professional to join the already successful team delivering programmes across London and the surrounding home counties.

My client is an award-winning multidiscipline practice, the organisation has a reputable reputation and are known for delivering accurate advice and developing strong construction professionals. Due to organic growth and continued success a position has arisen in the H&S department.

The role is to work in collaboration with several divisions across the practice. You the successful CDM/Principal Designer will provide strong technical advice and expertise. The opportunity is to manage a diverse client portfolio working on construction, refurbishment and fit out projects. Schemes are refreshing as you will work across multiple sectors including commercial, high end residential, education, industrial and retail. Typical project values range between £200k – £50million.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Principal Designer duties under CDM Regulations for construction/ refurbishment projects of various sizes across the UK
• Assist Designers and Clients with their duties under CDM Regulations including the principles of risk prevention
• Obtain, collate and distribute clear visual Pre-Construction H&S Information
• Attend project design team meetings and chair design risk workshops including to positively challenge and influence designers with design decisions
• Check and monitor competence of designers and contractors
• Review Construction Phase H&S Plans received from Principal Contractors
• Raise F10 notifications to the HSE on behalf of the Client
• Carry out CDM audits during the construction stage and issue reports
• Obtain, collate and distribute Health & Safety Files

CDM Consultant/Principal Designer

• NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent.
• Membership to IOSH, APS, IIRSM or similar professional body (desirable).
• Excellent Microsoft Word and Excel skills
• Extension experience and knowledge of the CDM Regulations 2015
• Knowledge and understanding of the Building Regulations and design guidance
• Full UK driving licence
• A smart, enthusiastic and professional demeanour
• Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
