A UK top 150 consultancy is looking to increase their team with the addition of a Senior Fire Engineer. The Kent based practice is looking for further strengthen their division with a competent and knowledgeable individual.

The practice prides themselves on delivering accurate construction advice across the built environment. The organisation provides expertise across the commercial, residential, leisure and education sectors. This opportunity is based in Kent however can be a hybrid role, you will need to travel to other offices and sites across London and the surrounding home counties.

We are currently looking for a full time Senior Fire Engineer to join the growing Fire Consultancy Team and to expand the service offering currently available. You the successful Senior Fire Engineer will support developing a Fire Engineering team within the practice.  The opportunity offers the ability to take a leading role in the practices development in this sector with excellent potential for career progression.

You will have a desire to grow the business and be willing to support and mentor junior members. You will be tasked with undertaking further training in this area as reasonably necessary to ensure that the practice is always up to date with current legislation and guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of Fire Strategies at all RIBA stages
  • Marketing of Services (assisted)
  • Report Writing
  • Undertaking Site Inspections
  • Attending Design Team Meetings
  • Training
  • Reporting to Partners
  • Assist in the development of the Fire Consultancy Services
  • Assist other members of the practice in all matters relating to Fire Engineering

The successful Senior Fire Engineer will be able to work independently and complete tasks under all RIBA stages in line with the FIA Scope of Works for the Fire Engineer. You will have the ability to not only appraise a scheme to satisfy the requirements of ADB and/or BS 9991 / BS 9999 but also to provide a Fire Engineered alternative solution where deviations are present, following the framework of BS 7974, including full justification and supporting calculations.

You will be experienced at liaison with Local Authorities, Building Safety Regulator, construction professionals, Architects and Local Fire and Rescue Services and be able to communicate effectively and collaboratively with the design team.

Senior Fire Engineer

  • Be a Chartered Fire Engineer (CEng).
  • Be a full member of the IFE (MIFireE).
  • Have further memberships and accreditations with other relevant professional organisations.
  • Be willing to undertake further training and sit exams where required (fully funded) to ensure that the practice is best represented within the realms of Fire Engineering.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of Building Regulations and Industry Standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Full UK driver’s licence
