We Recruit Group Ltd

A fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Planner to join a growing, highly regarded planning consultancy in Birmingham.

I’m currently working with a privately owned, global real estate advisory business that is looking to strengthen its Birmingham planning team with the appointment of a Planner or Senior Planner.

This is an opportunity to join a business with a genuinely collaborative culture, where planners are given the autonomy to take ownership of projects, work closely with clients and consultants, and play an active role in business development.

The Role
You’ll work across a broad range of planning projects, advising clients throughout the development process and gaining exposure to some high-profile and complex schemes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking planning appraisals and advising clients on the likelihood of achieving planning consent.
  • Developing and implementing planning strategies.
  • Preparing and submitting planning applications, including Planning Statements and Statements of Community Involvement.
  • Preparing representations to Local Plan and planning policy consultations.
  • Researching and preparing planning appeals.
  • Supporting the preparation of proofs of evidence for planning inquiries.
  • Working closely with architects and wider consultant teams.
  • Preparing client-facing reports and undertaking research and analytical work.
  • Supporting tender submissions and wider business development activity.
  • Managing your own workload while contributing effectively as part of a wider team.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships.

What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have 2+ years’ planning experience, either within the private or public sector, and a strong understanding of the UK planning system.

You should have:

  • Experience within development management and/or planning policy.
  • Strong report writing and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organisation and time-management abilities.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to work independently while also contributing to a wider team.
  • A genuine interest in developing your career within consultancy.
  • An RTPI-accredited planning degree and/or MRTPI status would be advantageous, although the client is open to candidates at different stages of their professional development.

What’s On Offer?
£40,000–£50,000 salary, depending on experience, alongside the opportunity to join a business that offers genuine long-term career progression.

You’ll be joining a principal-led, privately owned organisation where employees have the opportunity to take ownership within the business and play a meaningful role in its future growth.

If you’re a Planner or Senior Planner looking for a move where you can take on more responsibility, work on varied projects and develop your career within a highly collaborative consultancy, this could be an excellent opportunity.
