An established and highly regarded planning consultancy based in Stratford-upon-Avon is looking to appoint an experienced Senior or Principal Town Planner to join its growing team.

The successful candidate will be involved in a full range of planning and development projects, giving you the opportunity to broaden your experience and take on increasing responsibility.

The Role
As a Senior / Principal Town Planner, you will:

• Manage a varied portfolio of planning and development projects.
• Lead planning applications from initial instruction through to determination.
• Provide strategic planning advice and development appraisals.
• Manage pre-application discussions and negotiations with Local Planning Authorities.
• Prepare planning statements, reports and supporting documentation.
• Manage planning appeals and other planning matters where required.
• Liaise directly with clients, consultants, architects, local authorities and other stakeholders.
• Undertake site assessments and advise on development potential.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
• Take increasing responsibility for projects and contribute to the continued growth of the business.
• Projects will span a broad range of sectors, including residential, commercial, retail, leisure, rural, agricultural, education and other development projects.

About You
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Senior or Principal Town Planner with strong consultancy experience and the confidence to manage projects with a high degree of autonomy.

You will ideally have:

• Several years’ experience within town planning, preferably in consultancy.
• Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and planning policy.
• Experience managing planning applications and providing planning advice.
• The ability to manage your own workload and take ownership of projects.
• Strong client-facing and communication skills.
• Commercial awareness and a pragmatic approach to planning.
• MRTPI status, or be working towards chartership, would be advantageous.
• Most importantly, they’re looking for someone who wants to develop, take on responsibility and progress rather than simply move into another role doing the same thing.
