Senior Planner | Oxford | Private Consultancy | £40-45k
We Recruit Group Ltd
Are you a Chartered Town Planner looking for the opportunity to play a key role in a growing, specialist planning consultancy where your expertise will have a genuine impact from day one?
We’re working with an ambitious, founder-led planning consultancy that provides clear, commercially focused planning advice to developers, landowners, estates, universities, public sector organisations and private clients across England. The business combines the technical expertise and project exposure of a national consultancy with the autonomy, flexibility and client contact typically associated with a high-quality independent practice.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Planner seeking greater responsibility, more direct client engagement, and a clear route towards Associate-level progression as the business continues to grow.
The Role
As a Senior Planner, you’ll lead a diverse portfolio of projects across residential, mixed-use, commercial, education, strategic land and estate planning sectors. You’ll provide strategic advice from project inception through to determination and appeal, working directly with clients and key stakeholders throughout the planning process.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a range of planning applications from initial appraisal through to determination.
- Providing planning strategy, feasibility and development potential advice.
- Preparing planning statements, representations and appeal submissions.
- Managing pre-application discussions and stakeholder engagement.
- Supporting site promotion and Local Plan representations.
- Advising clients on planning risk, opportunities and development strategy.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Contributing to the continued growth and success of the practice.
About You
- We’re keen to speak with planners who can demonstrate:
- MRTPI status (or close to achieving Chartership).
- Experience gained within a planning consultancy, housebuilder, developer, local authority or property consultancy environment.
- Strong technical planning knowledge and understanding of the UK planning system.
- Experience managing planning applications and client relationships.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to problem solving.
- The confidence to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Why Join?
- Work directly with senior decision-makers and clients from day one.
- Exposure to a broad range of residential, commercial, education and strategic land projects.
- Genuine opportunity to influence the future direction of a growing consultancy.
- High levels of responsibility, autonomy and client contact.
- Clear career progression with scope to develop into Associate and leadership positions.
- Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
- Supportive environment focused on quality, commercial thinking and professional development.
The Opportunity
This role would particularly suit a planner currently working within a larger consultancy who is looking for more ownership of projects, greater visibility with clients, and the chance to join a business where progression is based on contribution rather than hierarchy.
If you’re an ambitious planner who enjoys delivering commercially focused planning advice and wants to be part of an exciting growth story, we’d love to hear from you.
