Our client is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Planner to join their East Midlands team. This is an excellent opportunity for a planning professional to play a key role in delivering successful residential developments while gaining valuable experience within a dynamic and expanding business.

Working closely with senior planning, land and technical teams, you will support the delivery of planning consents across a range of development sites, helping to bring forward high-quality new homes and communities.

The Role
Reporting to the Head of Planning, you will be involved in all aspects of the planning process, from site appraisal through to planning consent and delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the preparation and submission of planning applications, including outline, detailed and reserved matters applications.
  • Coordinating consultant teams and supporting planning appeals.
  • Undertaking site appraisals, reviewing planning policy, housing need data and development constraints.
  • Monitoring the progress of planning applications, appeals and local plan activity.
  • Liaising with local authorities, planning officers, consultants and key stakeholders.
  • Supporting community consultation and engagement activities.
  • Attending project meetings, site visits and public consultations where required.
  • Maintaining planning programmes and accurate project records.
  • Assisting with appeal statements, supporting documentation and inquiry preparation.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline (RTPI accredited preferred).
  • RTPI membership or be working towards chartership.
  • Approximately 2–5 years’ planning experience gained within a housebuilder, planning consultancy or local authority environment.
  • A strong understanding of the UK planning system, planning policy and development management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to work.
  • Confidence in dealing with local authorities, consultants and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with GIS or planning software would be advantageous.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business travel.
