Award-winning and rapidly expanding UK development company specialising in the delivery of high-quality affordable housing, retirement living, and extra-care schemes. Their in-house construction team is dedicated to the design, planning, and execution of innovative construction projects across England.

 

Seeking a skilled and experienced Design Manager to join their dynamic team and lead the technical and design aspects of our residential construction projects.

 

About the Role

As a Senior Design Manager, you will play a critical role in the successful delivery of complex developments from pre-construction through to completion.

You will oversee the design management process, ensuring technical compliance, programme alignment, and coordination across all consultants and stakeholders. Working closely with site and commercial teams, you will ensure that design solutions are practical, buildable, and cost-effective.

 

Key Responsibilities

Design Coordination: Lead and manage all design-related activities, ensuring compliance with client specifications and regulatory requirements.
Technical Oversight: Provide senior technical guidance to ensure innovative, practical, and buildable design solutions.
Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and external consultants to ensure seamless delivery.
Programme Management: Ensure all design deliverables meet agreed milestones and support overall construction programme objectives.
Documentation & Reporting: Manage design documentation and provide clear reporting to senior leadership.
Value Engineering: Identify and implement value engineering opportunities without compromising quality or compliance.
Team Leadership: Mentor and support design team members, fostering collaboration and professional development.
What You’ll Need

Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in design management within residential construction.
Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations and residential design processes.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage consultants and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
Problem-Solving: Ability to proactively manage design risks and resolve technical challenges.
Software Proficiency: Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and standard industry software platforms.
