We Recruit Group Ltd

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior or Principal Planner to join a privately owned residential development business with a strong land pipeline across Hampshire and the wider region.

This role offers genuine exposure to both immediate, consent-driven planning applications and longer-term strategic site promotion, making it ideal for a planner who enjoys breadth, autonomy and commercial involvement across the full planning lifecycle.

Working closely with land, technical and external consultant teams, you will take a leading role in shaping planning strategy, driving applications forward, and managing relationships with Local Planning Authorities, stakeholders and advisors. From early-stage site appraisal and promotion through to detailed applications and delivery, you will have real influence over decision-making and outcomes.

The business operates with a long-term, privately owned mindset, allowing for pragmatic planning strategies, high-quality schemes and a genuinely collaborative working culture. This is not a volume-driven or overly corporate environment – instead it offers the chance to take ownership, be trusted as a planning professional, and see projects through from concept to consent.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Leading and managing planning applications for immediate residential schemes
  • Supporting and progressing strategic land opportunities through the plan-making process
  • Advising on site acquisition, constraints, risk and planning strategy
  • Managing consultants and engaging directly with LPAs and key stakeholders
  • Contributing to the wider land and development strategy of the business

This opportunity would suit an MRTPI-qualified planner with strong experience in residential development, whether currently working in consultancy or already on the developer side, who is looking for a step up in responsibility and visibility.

For planners seeking a more rounded, commercially focused role within a privately owned developer — where both short-term results and long-term strategy matter — this represents a standout opportunity.
