Engineering Manager | Developer | Shropshire
The successful candidate will provide engineering and technical support from initial feasibility through to detailed design, technical approvals and construction handover.

Key Responsibilities
Pre‑Development & Feasibility
Interpret geotechnical reports and provide clear recommendations.
Prepare initial site designs, constraints plans and engineering viability assessments.
Support early utilities enquiries and demonstrate working knowledge of CDM regulations.
Planning & Technical Design
Develop detailed engineering solutions throughout planning stages, ensuring practical, compliant and cost‑effective outcomes.
Manage external consultants for roads, sewers, levels, cut‑and‑fill, drainage and structural design.
Liaise with statutory bodies including Highway Authorities, Environment Agency and Building Control.
Secure the best technical and planning outcomes for the company.
Technical Approvals & Construction Support
Ensure designs meet all regulatory standards and NHBC requirements.
Prepare and check all engineering drawings prior to site start, including foundations, substructure, highways, drainage and remediation.
Manage procurement and delivery of utilities throughout all project stages.
Support construction teams to resolve technical queries, progressing any conditional approvals.
Experience & Qualifications
Extensive engineering or technical experience within housebuilding or construction (roads and sewers, foundations, land drainage, utilities, ground conditions etc.).
Relevant engineering qualification (degree or equivalent). Experience with ICE or RICS‑accredited routes desirable.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and drainage / ground modelling software such as PDS, Windes or MicroDrainage.
Ability to assess, manage and undertake civil engineering design.
Strong understanding of technical, regulatory and environmental requirements.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
