Client Side Building Surveyor

We are recruiting on behalf of a community focused social enterprise of close to 100 staff members, hiring a Building Surveyor to oversee a 13 acre plot across North Southwark, Waterloo and The Southbank.

Our client has been instrumental to the areas regeneration since purchasing and redeveloping the site in the early 80s. Since then, the estate has been thriving with new homes, shops, design studios, restaurants, galleries and nurseries to name a few.

Your position will see you working within the Property and Facilities team, reporting to head of department to ensure the continual safety and maintenance of the 13 acre estate and subsequent PPMS, projects and building matters for residential, commercial, retail and community spaces.

You will be the linchpin for the estate for all things technical, carrying out regular inspections and writing reports for repairs and improvements; managing projects, contracts and suppliers, works, budgets and insurance claims. You will also be expected to lead, manage and develop the in house maintenance team whilst overseeing the work of external contractors in connection with the day-to-day physical operation and development of the Estate.

The successful applicant will be highly organised and proactive, with surveying experience within housing or for multi-use building stock. You will also have an eye for problem solving and be used to writing reports. You will need to have a good understanding of health and safety and the ability to find sustainable solutions to improve the asset management services across the site.
