Mechanical Manager
The Client:
Our client is a leading London-based, privately owned building services contractor specialising in Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health (MEP) design and installation for large-scale residential and commercial projects. Established in 2003, they have a skilled team of over 200 professionals delivering comprehensive services including mechanical and electrical installations, design, BIM-integrated prefabrication, facilities management, and aftercare. Their portfolio features prestigious residential developments for tier 1 contractors and developers, demonstrating expertise in high-spec MEP shell & core and fit-out works.
The Role
Our Client have been appointed to deliver the MEP Shell & Core and Cat A fitout for a new 22 Storey Office Building located in Southwark. The successful candidate will be a key member of the MEP project team.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and co-ordinate the Mechanical division of the Office Block from conception through to delivery.
- To complete accurate bulk material take off for all mechanical infrastructure systems, Drainage, LTHW, CHW, BCWS, Grey Water, Sanitarywear etc.
- Assist with the management of material onsite ensuring supply is ahead of production.
- Manage and oversee the on-site construction team, including Mechanical and external Contractors.
- Ensure Sub-contractors work to the programme, construction sequence and efficient deployment when pro-actively allocating work
- Implementing Cilantro’s Mechanical Safe Systems of Work procedure
- Ensure the highest consideration is given when complying with current regulations and specific client requirements
- Reporting of all Health and Safety issues and manage the issue and upkeep of PPE to the team
- Proactively demonstrating Health and Safety Leadership and monitoring on site;
- ensuring the safety standards are understood, implemented and maintained by all team members and Contractors
- Carrying out detailed Quality Assurance inspections of installations in accordance with QA procedure
- Manage and oversee the Mechanical pre-commissioning and commissioning including the flushing, testing and chlorination of the systems
- Implement and monitor the project to ensure it is engineered to the highest standard
- Take ownership of Mechanical issues and liaise with the Client and Design consultants to obtain closure and clarifications where necessary
- Provide weekly updates to the Contracts Manager and Projects Manager
- Review of ongoing works and highlight potential defects or risks
- Complete accurate project materials take off as allocated by the project procurement process
- Compile project and task specific RAMS and ensure they are updated in line with the project progress
- Ensure installations are in accordance with drawing specifications
Skills and experience required:
- Has previous experience working on commercial buildings in a similar role
- An industry relevant City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 or above
- Experience working on commercial projects
- Ability to influence and drive positive attitudes and behaviours with regards to site Health and Safety
- Experience dealing with MEP Sub-contractors
- Essential knowledge of relevant Health and Safety requirements and Mechanical Safe Systems of Work
- Experience of managing staff and 3rd parties essential
- Will need to be able to understand building services including design principles,
- method statements, inspection test plans, risk assessments, commissioning, and handover requirements
Rate and Hours
- Rate: £33-£36 p/h Experience Depending
- Start: July 2025
- Working hours: 7:30am-5pm Monday-Thursday and 7:30am-4pm on Friday.
