What is the role?

We are recruiting for an engineer to work within our busy Technical department. You will oversee external design consultants, not only on live sites, but also play an integral role in producing viability assessments for potential land purchases.

 

Although your expertise and experience will be Civils biased, you will be involved in all aspects of the project and have a desire to broaden your knowledge and also be driven to deliver a project from land purchase through to final plot handovers.

 

The role will include:

·        Assist in the production of layouts and technical reports for land appraisals and working drawings.

·        Identify and advise on development constraints and ‘abnormal’ items and look to value engineer accordingly.

·        Instruct and interpret site investigations, topos, utility designs, foundation designs etc

·        Ensure initial engineer appointment are thorough, fair and robust. To include sewers, private drainage, retaining walls, external levels, foundation designs  and any other below DPC requirements.

·        Assist in managing the process of timely discharge of building regulations and planning conditions.

·        Ensure that sectional agreements are approved, managed and handed over in a timely manner.

·        Liaise and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, utility providers and external consultants.

·        Answering day to day technical queries around the schemes involved in.

·        Involvement in the pre development timeline and ensuring deadlines are hit to achieve the desired site start date

·        Source and analyze quotes for warranty providers, bonding facilities and building control.

·        Ensure that working drawings are in accordance with the approved planning permission.

·        Maintain accuracy of the document management system so that the wider team can be sure that the most up to date drawings are being used .

·        Attend site progress meetings (internal and housing associations) throughout the build.

·        Attend subcontractor pre start meetings and reviews as and when required.

 

What you’ll need:

·        A qualified (either by qualification or experience) civil engineer.

·        5  years minimum relevant experience

·        Demonstrable track record in residential development.

·        A working knowledge of both house and apartment construction, building regs, NHBC requirements etc

·        Ability to drive a consultant team to achieve the deadlines required whilst not compromising on quality.

·        Knowledge of AutoCAD would be beneficial

·        Ideally experience within a housing developer and a related consultancy.
