Design Manager | Main Contractor | North West | £60k+P
This is an exciting opportunity to join a relatively new business in a period of growth and the successful candidate will get exposed to things that often being part of a larger business doesn’t involve.
You will have engagement with Development Design teams from conception to Stage 4/5 construction status. Managing external consultants and ensuring critical dates align with construction and procurement programmes. Input into pre-construction activities and scrutiny of design for buildability and cost value and liaison with relevant external bodies and local authorities as required.
Duties include:
· Liaising with your employer, Designers, and Contractors to fulfil duties under the CDM
Regulations
· Attending construction project design reviews and design team meetings
· Attending pre-start and progress meetings
· Managing risk assessment reports
· Conducting site safety inspections on construction sites and prepare reports
· Preparing Pre-construction Health and Safety Information for projects
· Reviewing and prepare Construction Phase Plans, Risk Assessments, and Method statements
· Manage the project design budget and timeline.
· Maintain effective communication with the customer on all agreed actions to ensure that any issues are resolved to their satisfaction.
· Lead design team meetings & provide regular updates to senior management on project progress.
· Ensure all projects adhere to company standards and industry regulations.
· Implement & maintain quality control procedures throughout the design & construction process.
Requirements
· Architecture, design and construction management, or architectural technology degree
· Previous employment as a Technical Manager or Design Manager role
· Exceptional knowledge of construction standards, regulations, and legislation, including Health and Safety
· Excellent, up-to-date, practical knowledge and experience of construction processes
· Ability to present information in a clear and concise way to the team and to senior management, enabling effective decision making.
· Proven experience of managing the design and operational performance of the design supply chain including setting and achieving challenging targets
· Able to prioritise workload to meet deadlines
· Experience of document control systems such as Viewpoint
· Excellent computer skills, CAD, and Microsoft packages
· Experience of delivering and managing projects through all RIBA stages.
