The Technical Coordinator will create, deliver and continually improve financial and contractual control of projects in order to achieve the Departmental and Corporate Objectives.
Responsibilities include project management, technical support, and communication with various stakeholders.
Daily tasks include :
· To carry out condition surveys on listed buildings to get a better understanding of the level of repairs required, including recording defects with the understanding of proposed designs, cost implications and feasibility of repairs (elevations, roofs, windows, external walls, room data sheets, historic features, etc.)
· To advise on any queries from construction and commercial teams regarding repairs that may arise once soft stripping/demolition is carried out
· To work with the Design, Commercial and Production Departments in the early stages of construction to help influence and advise on technical and repairs issues in order to reduce risk and improve the effectiveness of these processes
· To ensure that site visits are carried out regularly and efficiently to assist in identifying potential problems
· To effectively assess/critique the Conservation Architect’s Schedule of Repairs in a time-effective manner that can then be resubmitted in a presentable fashion
· To organise and attend on-site meetings with consultants and subcontractors to introduce to the site/works required, carry out reviews of existing information to date, value engineer proposals and designs in order to improve the quality and level of production information (including Timber and Damp Specialists, Acoustic Engineers, Drainage Surveyors/Engineers, Asbestos Contractors, etc.)
· To collate historic records and information on the extents of existing drainage for each site and produce clear and accurate drawings to reflect this information, following an onsite investigation and physically tracing to confirm. Establish which existing runs are likely to be retained for reuse in the proposed scheme and issuing this information to various CCTV surveying contractors for tender
· To review drainage CCTV reports once received and produce clear drawings indicating areas of defects and concerns and passing this information onto the commercial/design
· To complete setting out of proposed SVP locations using available design information and carrying out intrusive investigations to record and produce information to highlight any areas of concern including structural clashes, inconsistencies, missing information, etc. to be forwarded to the design department for consideration
· To carry out initial setting-out of proposed floor and service plans for initial planning purposes accordingly within buildings to be retained
· To consider early site services and proposed utility requirements and designs and provide the appropriate information for multi-utility quotes to be tendered, including preparing drawings, plans and schedules, under supervision of the Infrastructure Manager
· To produce utility trackers at tender stage to record progress including value engineering tender returns obtain revised quotes making recommendation to the Infrastructure Manager of best value quotation for appointment
· To collate information gathered during site visits and surveys and to produce clear, professionally presented documents – CAD/Bluebeam/PDF/Excel, etc
· Using Site Audit Pro or a Dictaphone to ensure that all ideas, information and pictures are recorded whilst on site so these can be fed back into the design through the opportunities tracker
· To liaise with and instruct the onsite handymen and site operatives
· To prepare scopes of work and review RAMs if overseeing works on site.
Experience
· Analytical Skills and Project Management

· Strong Communication Skills
· Experience in heritage preservation or restoration projects
· Ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders
· Hold a recognised qualification in Building Surveying and / or Construction Management
· Have a basic understanding of the various types of construction contracts
· To have an in depth understanding and appreciation of the importance of Health & Safety.
· To be financially aware (cost management)
· To be computer literate i.e. Word, Excel, Email, AutoCAD, Bluebeam
Qualifications
· Hold a recognised qualification in Building Surveying and / or Construction Management
· Have basic, practical and demonstrable knowledge of Building Surveying, CAD and Construction practices basic, practical and demonstrable knowledge of construction methodology
