Location: Canary Wharf

Salary: Up to £40,000 + attractive benefits package

WRG is supporting a property & facilities management organisation who are based across Canary Wharf and are looking to appoint Compliance & Permit Officer to sit within their Fire, Health and safety department.

The role has been created to ensure that the work carried out by contractors and third parties is conducted safely and inline with the requirements set out in the permit to work procedure.

This position would suit an experienced compliance professional who is looking to take the next step in their career and join a well respected organisation which can offer excellent development and progression opportunities.

Duties:

  • To undertake pre-during, and post-works supervision and monitoring inspections to verify that contractors work according to their agreed RAMS.
  • To undertake a pre-work site inspection with the contractor to confirm that the works are safe to commence and that agreed control measures, as identified on the permit to work and authorisation to access, are being followed.
  • Subject to business needs occasionally support teams in issuing permit to works at the location of works following pre works inspection and review of documentation in the permit system.
  • To review contractor RAMS, competency and equipment certificates before contractor works are carried out as required. Where contractor non-compliance or unsafe practices are observed, halt the works and decide whether they are safe to proceed.
  • To notify the department manager and escalate to the Compliance Manager any non-compliance or unsafe practices immediately and follow up with written notification.
  • To log results from monitoring visits onto the corporate database and to provide monthly reports to the Health & Safety team on compliance rates.
  • To organise audits with the different teams and attend audits with the compliance manager.

Requirements:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate/equivalent.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees, tenants, and contractors by phone and email.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage a high volume of electronic permit applications and visitor requests.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations about permits.

Desirable:

  • Working at height training.
  • Knowledge of fire safety/ confined spaces.
  • Electrical qualification.
  • Asbestos qualification.
  • Laboratory safety knowledge.
  • Gas safety knowledge.
  • Excellent customer service skills to assist individuals with permit inquiries.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to adapt to changes in procedures and regulations regarding permits.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
