Role: Building Safety Consultant/ Building Regs Principal Designer

Location: Central London or Kent offices (projects across London/ South East)

WRG have recently partnered with a multi-disciplinary property & construction consultancy that operates across London and the South East. The business is incredibly busy with work focused around delivering the Building Regs Principal Designer role to their clients, they are looking to hire an experienced and competent Building Control Surveyor or Building Safety Consultant to sit within their CDM/ Principal Designer team, and work with a wide variety of clients across the built environment in London/ South East.

Our clients oversees a diverse range of projects in the residential, commercial, retail, office, leisure, hotel, industrial, manufacturing, sport and education sectors. The role has been created off the back of the changes happening in the industry related to the Building Safety Regulator, and the business wanting to integrate their PD and Building Safety service offering to help its clients navigate these changes and ensure that building regs compliance is achieved on all projects.

The role would suit a Building Control professional, Approved Inspector, Design Manager or Architect with several years of experienced in the sector offering their services to a range of clients and projects. Excellent interpersonal skills are required due to the client facing nature of the role. Our client is also happy to consider people who have not registered with the Building Safety Regulator (BSR).

Duties:

• Carryout building control inspections, site visits, surveys and prepare reports.
• Offer advice around the Building Safety Act.
• Liaise with Principal Designer, Principal Contractor and other parties to ensure compliance on projects.
• Undertake plan checks submitted for Building Regulation approval.
• Inspect properties and buildings at key stages of the building process.
• Attend client and design team meetings to offer professional input relation to building regs compliance.
• Provide technical advice to clients, contractors, developers, colleagues, and key stakeholders.
• Ensure projects are completed in line with current building regulations and legislation.

Requirements:

• Degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management or similar discipline.
• Membership to RICS, CABE, RIBA, CIAT, or CIOB.
• Experience of inspecting buildings and properties.
• Excellent knowledge of BSA building regulations, codes and legislation.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
