Health & Safety Advisor/CDM Advisor/Principal Designer

A leading consultancy in Kent is looking to grow their team with the addition of a Health & Safety/CDM professional. We are looking for a knowledgeable and competent individual who comes from a design and consultancy background.
My client boast a wealth of experience providing innovative Health and Safety services within the construction industry. Their range of health and safety services help meet the needs of their ever-increasing client base, from principal designer services and CDM support services.
The opportunity is to support the Safety Directors and work a part of the UK wide team. You will work across an impressive client portfolio undertaking a wide range of schemes including new build, refurbishment, high end residential, local government and both tier 1 & 2 contractors. The teams key focus include area commercial, education, health, residential and MOD.
Responsibilities
- Complying with the responsibilities of the principal designer under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (“CDM 2015”).
- Informing and assisting clients in discharging their duties at each stage of the process under CDM 2015.
- Visiting sites and carrying out an initial appraisal to establish existing hazards and site restrictions.
- Attendance at design team meetings, workshops, and project progress meetings.
- Setting up the design risk register and carrying out CDM design reviews / workshops with the design team to focus on the significant design, construction, and operation and maintenance risks.
- Assist designers to design out risk and maintain design risk register.
- Preparation of RIBA Stage CDM / Principal Designer reports.
- Advising and assisting clients in the appointment of designers and contractors
- Preparation and issue of the Pre Construction Information.
- Submission of the F10 Notification to the HSE and review of Construction Phase Plans prior to works starting on site.
- Carrying out site inspections during the construction phase to monitor compliance.
- Collating and delivering the Health and Safety File at completion of the project.
- Undertaking site H&S inspections and report writing.
- Assist with the writing of risk assessments and safe systems of work for clients.
- Assist with client annual memberships to recognized SSIP schemes.
- Help maintain internal compliance to health and safety requirements and embed a culture of safety.
Health & Safety Advisor/CDM Advisor/Principal Designer
- Minimum 2 – 3 years’ post-qualification experience in the construction industry, performing the Principal Designer and/or CDM Client Advisor role under CDM 2015
- NEBOSH General & Construction Certification
- Technical member (or higher) IOSH
- An excellent understanding of of Health & Safety and CDM 2015
- Ideally come from design and consultancy background
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in the management and administration of activities pursuant to the CDM 2015 Regulations.
- Excellent oral, written and numeracy skills
- Proficient in the use of IT including Microsoft software, especially Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Full UK driver’s license
