The Red Lion Court development will create 230,000 sq ft of offices, retail and open public space on the banks of the River Thames, adjacent to Borough Yards.
Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group, Red Lion Court has been designed to be net-zero in both construction and operation.
By reusing part of the existing building and prioritising low carbon and recycled materials, Landsec expects to exceed London sustainability, biodiversity and energy efficiency targets.
It will target WELL Core Platinum and BREEAM ‘Outstanding’.
Landsec’s client team includes cost consultant Gardiner & Theobald, M&E engineer Hilson Moran and structural engineer AKT II.
Landsec’s pipeline in Southwark includes a cluster of green offices: The Forge, the UK’s first net-zero commercial building designed in line with the UKGBC’s framework, Timber Square, Red Lion Court and Liberty of Southwark.
